There are so many things I think I need to be doing at any given moment in a day. The truth is, some things can wait, but I do not always rationalize this concept. I can bog myself down more than any class or deadline can. I do not think I mean to do this to myself, but I somehow do at various points. So many things seem to happen all at once, and I want to do my best to do it all or make it all happen to the best of my ability. When I do this, something usually suffers. A saying goes, “meet them where they are.” It can be applied in the moments of trying to figure out when is the best time to begin. Meeting ourselves where we are with the goals we have can be empowering. We make the false assumption that the stars must align perfectly before the attempts to reach the stars can take place. Wherever you are in this moment is the right place to begin. Having it all is not the goal here either. It takes more than things to make it happen. Believe it or not, we have everything we need to be able to accomplish whatever we set out to achieve. Between the strength, imagination, and motivation we hold, there is not much more we need. Life is more about having a collection of memories and achievements than having a box full of things that have been forgotten about and under an inch of dust. Do not wait to do something because you do not think you have what it takes; you do because you have made it this far. Reaching this contentment of knowing to wait for the perfect time, having it all, and doing it all is impossible makes life so much easier, and it is freeing. For me, I know that the right moment is the current moment. I may not always feel like I have what it takes, but deep down, I know I do. And, it is less about doing it all and more about doing what I can. Stay Curious, Kayla ©Inquisitive Perspectives 2018
